I returned to Japan on July 5th, 2023. I worked two seasons at Happy Raft in 2018 and 2019, which seems so long ago! I was planning to return earlier, but as you know, Covid19 made traveling quite difficult. While I was in Canada I was still working on many rivers including the Kicking Horse, Nahatlatch, Kootenay, and Nahanni (Google search if you`re interested!) But I was very excited to come back to the Yoshinogawa and play in the warm water and challenge myself to remember all the Japanese words I had forgotten.
I have felt very welcomed back and was excited to see a lot of old friends and returning customers. If you are visiting Japan in the Shikoku region, please come to Kochi/Tokushima and join us on a canyoning or rafting trip! There are a lot of options to choose from along with a variety of guesthouses to stay nearby in the mountains. It`s incredibly beautiful and worth the visit.
I wish traveling was easier and cheaper so I could bring all my friends and family here for the unique experience! There are a lot of well-traveled and cultured people working here and they will be able to welcome you in a variety of languages (or we can play charades ;)).
